I have always loved being around animals. In the past I have worked in holistic animal nutrition, pet sitting, and pet grooming. It was through these fields of where work I fell in love with the pets and their humans. Before Catti and I created Tailored Tails, I worked as a mobile pet groomer in the Wichita/ Derby/ Andover area. I used mobile grooming as an opportunity to learn more about Gentle Grooming techniques and how to prioritize animal comfort. I became fascinated with grooming and learning something new everyday to utilize in my work. I especially love working with doodles, schnauzers, and Scottish terriers, but all breeds equally welcomed and loved! At home I have my own Scottie, 2 geckos, a kitty, and a happy go lucky Husky. When I’m not working I’m normally spending time painting, hiking with my pups, or reading. I obtained 3 years of experience building my skillsets in creative grooming using colors, Asian fusion techniques, and specialized comfort grooming in one on one environments.
I am so grateful to have the opportunity to work in my own clean, safe, and relaxed facility — I can not wait to have the chance to make your pups feel their best!
Catti (Cat) Aikens
I began my career in the healthcare field, beginning with CNA/CMA in long term care homes. There I developed a love and respect for life, comfort, and our relationships with the world around us and the people we share it with.
In 2018 I began my first grooming position, and since then have been expanding my knowledge and skills consistently. I’ve enjoyed learning how to perform breed standard trims, creative grooming using but not limited to colors and Asian fusion techniques, attending a local CPR class hosted by WAAL, exploring and practicing handstripping techniques for wire coated breeds, and increasing my knowledge in areas of nutritional, skin, coat and whole body health for pets. In addition, I’ve invested time in my education on pet behavior, training, and psychology.
Cat grooming has become a passion of mine, and I have been putting focus into expanding my cat clientele. I find it takes a certain understanding and patience, as well as atmosphere, to keep a cat as comfortable and confident as possible during grooming sessions. Many even enjoy their sessions!
